using online forums, I was really wet behind the ears!
I wasted
one heck of a lot of time in forums - and I even got banned from
a few forums because I advertised my websites and products too

these forums was a good way to market my products because I had

of forum marketing - and no software or other tools except my

and in particular, I came to understand just how to get my marketing

There are four ways in which I benefit from
visiting and posting to forums:
- It's a good way to keep up to
date with
what's going on in my area of work. There are forums for almost
every niche you can think of, and many of them are full of
useful information.
- The more I post to forums, the
more I become recognised as an "expert" in my field - especially if
my posts are helpful to other people. Recently, I joined a
new private marketing forum, and the moderator emailed me saying
"It's good to have you on board, Ian". I'd not heard of
her before - but she clearly knew my name!
- I get useful "backlinks",
which are recognised by the search engines as one-way links.
Each of my posts has a "sig file" - few words about
one of my websites, and a link to the site. Search engines
spider busy forums almost daily, and these "backlinks"
help to boost the ranking of my websites.
- I get increased sales. If I'm recognised
as someone who is helpful and trustworthy, other forum visitors
are more inclined to click on the links in my sig file - and
buy from me.

Marketing in online forums can be
a time-consuming process, as I have found:
- I had to go to each forum regularly.
- I had to remember my username and
password for each forum.
- Often, I wanted
to post a similar message on more than one forum
(without spamming the forums!). That could involve a lot of
typing - and I'm not a fast typist!
- I had to try to remember what posts I'd made
to which forums - because it's important to reply back to other
people's forum posts when they've replied to yours.
But now, these

 I'm
going to describe this great software in detail, because

a while back there was some software called "Blog Submitter" (or
something like that) which automatically put spammy comments
in other people's blogs.
"Oh no!", I thought, "now
there's software which goes and spams the forums".
I was wrong. When I had a closer look
at it, I realised that it was very similar to some software
which I've been using for years. And it's software
which I use almost daily. It's saved me many hours of work
over those years.

Here I'm browsing own of my favourite
forums - the Warrior Forum. I can do this through because it acts just like a normal
web browser. Simply type in the address of a forum - or
any other web page - and it displays perfectly. Here's
a closer look at the browser:
When you've found a forum that you
want to follow regularly, another part of the interface is used:
I told you I use a lot of forums! Whatever
forum is displayed in the browser window, just click on "Add
Current URL" and it's stored, ready for you to instantly
display again.
When you've obtained your username
and password for the forum, just type those in, and will remember them. And when you come
to log in to a forum, put your cursor into the forum's
login boxes and click on the two "Paste" buttons.
It's a simple as that.
Also in this part of the interface,
you can save any posts you have made to a forum, and instruct to "watch" any posts that
you have made. You'll then be able to easily see when someone
has replied to one of your forum posts and you'll be able
to follow up on that reply promptly.

Once you've composed your messages,
you have a number of options, all designed to increase
your productivity:
With , it's extremely easy to post to
multiple forums by saving your message and reloading
it when you need to post it. And I'd always recommend
making slight changes to your posting to each forum.

Tool #2: Fass
Forum Post Editor
Have you noticed how some people's
forum posts stand out. They use a different font. They
use font enhancements, such as "bold" and "italic". Maybe
they carefully use different font colours. One thing is
certain - their forum posts stand out from the others!
What they are doing is using a special
"mark-up" code, doing the same function as HTML, but it's
a code developed especially for forums. And you should
be doing the same, for maximum impact!
If you're using these codes when composing
messages on a forum, it can be a bit fiddly - and time
consuming. And remember, one of the aims of my Forum Marketing
Kit is to save you time! That's why I've included the - and it's much better than the rather
techie bit of software which I've been using before I found
"Fass".
"Fass" enables
you to insert these formatting codes much easier than if
you were to compose them online in the forums. Just highlight
the text you want to format, click the appropriate formatting
button (just like a word processor), and "Fass" inserts
the codes for you:

it will look like after you've posted it in a forum:

Tool #3: Niche
Forum Finder
A key element of forum marketing is
finding forums appropriate to your products or services.
Don't try posting something about cats in a forum devoted
to dogs. You won't be popular! That was the sort of mistake
I made in the early days of my forum marketing!
It can be
a tedious task trying to find the right forums for you.
You could spend many a happy (and wasteful) hour trying
to track down appropriate forums in the search engines.
The
